Back to School!

We've had a fantastic first week back to school!  I have 18 wonderful students this year!   We started the year with lots of get to know you activities.  We also learned lots of procedures, practiced PBIS for school, different routines and had some fun.  It's going to be a great year in third grade.

SimplyFun Games

Mrs. Lang stumbled upon the company SimplyFun.  She thought the games were awesome but she couldn't find anywhere to buy them in WI.  So she started selling them just so she could get some and others could too!

Our grade level team sold concessions at a wrestling meet.  With the profits we were able to get 2 games for each classroom as well as 5 games to share as a grade level.

I was also able to host a party of my friends and neighbors.  I was able to pick a place to donate hundreds of dollars worth of games to!  I picked our class at Hemlock Creek!

Check out all the games we got for our classroom.  They are super fun, very educational, easy to learn and quick to play.  All perks with our busy days!     Some favorites are Trifusion, Math'd Potatoes, Vinculum, and 15 to Zero.  We'll be learning Rolling Bones soon!

Gordan Korman

Your child probably came home excited that they got to meet a REAL, LIVE author!  Gordan Korman has written MANY series for book geared for kids in grades 3 and above.  We read a few in our classroom including Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire.   He talked to us about becoming a published author when he was a young kid and how his writing process works.  He told us to think of the "What ifs" as we look around our world.  Some students were able to ask questions and even receive a signed book!

Randy Peterson

We have Randy Peterson visiting this week and next week!  What a treat!  I remember going to his shows as a kid!  He is so talented.  On Monday we met with him and had a song in about a half hour!  We are singing a cool rock song about rocks!  Today we finished it up, sang it for practice and learned about guitars.  Next week we get to go to a recording studio in the music room to record it! Here's a sneak peek!

Staff Variety Show

At the end of February, the students earned a staff variety show because of earning enough Phantastic Phantom slips for PBIS.   We had a lot of fun.  The 3rd grade teachers competed as sumo wrestlers!  Whoop 'Em Up Wisneski took 1st and Krahn the Krusher took 2nd!   Here are some pictures from the show!
